August - Ohio Goes to the Fair

The Champaign County Fair has been a cherished tradition in Urbana for more than 175 years, celebrating the county's rich agricultural heritage and strong sense of community. The first organized fair was held in 1852, giving local farmers a place to showcase livestock, crops, and homegrown products while bringing neighbors together for competition and fellowship. Over the years, the fair has weathered challenges including fires, the Great Depression, and wartime changes, but it has continued to grow and evolve. Today, the Champaign County Fair remains one of the county's largest annual events, blending agricultural traditions with 4-H and Junior Fair competitions, harness racing, live entertainment, exhibits, vendors, carnival rides, and family fun—honoring the past while celebrating the future of Champaign County.
