CHAMPAIGN COUNTY ARTS COUNCILThe Champaign County Arts Council Inc. (CCAC) was incorporated by 30 local individuals in 1974 as a completely volunteer organization. The first fund drive netted 43 members and $532; the first year’s budget was $1685. In 1984, CCAC rented its first performance space and hired a permanent, part-time "Executive Secretary", a position later changed to "Executive Director."
In 2004, CCAC celebrated its 30th anniversary with a move into a new office/gallery space, allowing artwork to be hung "in-house." The larger space is also a storefront location in downtown Urbana with a public art exhibit and arts items for sale. To date, the Arts Council has invested more than $2 million in the arts in Champaign County. |
