A Mission Rooted in Justice
For over 25 million families worldwide, coffee isn’t just a beverage; it’s a livelihood. However, many coffee growers and pickers are among the world’s most impoverished workers, while their products are enjoyed in some of the wealthiest establishments. Hemisphere Coffee Roasters was founded to bridge this gap.

When Café Paradiso opened its doors in 2006, it wasn’t just about adding another restaurant to downtown Urbana—it was about creating an experience. A place where families gather, friends reconnect, and locals celebrate life’s everyday moments over plates of delicious pasta and perfectly crafted sauces. It was about ​bringing a piece of Italy to town, served up with warmth, tradition, and a whole lot of love.

Born out of a need for more dining options downtown, Café Paradiso transformed the former Paradise Café into a warm welcoming dinner venue. With no Italian restaurants in the area at the time, the owners saw an opportunity to introduce Urbana to something special—authentic, comforting flavors in a cozy setting. And from the very start, the philosophy has been simple: “Come as you are, or dress for that special occasion… all are welcome.” 

A cornerstone of Champaign County Fair week is back for its 32nd year: Chamber Night at the Races, hosted by the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce. This signature event will take place on a new night--Monday, August 4, 2025, marking a shift from its traditional Tuesday slot while continuing to deliver all the excitement, giveaways, and community spirit fairgoers know and love.

Tucked just north of Urbana, Freshwater Farms of Ohio isn’t just a fish farm—it’s a full-on destination, adventure, and education rolled into one. Founded by Urbana native Dr. Dave Smith, this family-run gem has been making waves (literally and figuratively) in aquaculture for decades. With its fascinating mix of science, sustainability, hands-on experiences, and heart, Freshwater Farms is a place where visitors of all ages can come to explore, learn, and refresh.

This is the Urbana Black Heritage Festival, a tradition that started in 2022 when Kalen Howell decided to honor his family’s legacy in the best way he knew how: by bringing people together.
